Established in 2009, Kgolo Community Development Trust has been dedicated to fostering Black participation within HMM/SAMANCOR and uplifting historically disadvantaged individuals, particularly from the Joe Morolong Local Municipality and the broader John Taolo Gaetsewe district in the Northern Cape. Registered as a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) and governed by the Broad-Based Black Empowerment Act (2003), the Trust underwent a transformative change in August 2023, rebranding from HMM Educational Trust (HMMET) to Kgolo Community Development Trust (KCDT).
With its Trust Deed approved on 14 August 2023, the Trust’s commitment extends to aligning its social investment strategy with its objectives, guiding grant allocation for maximum impact. Additionally, the board of Trustees convenes 3-4 times annually to ensure strategic direction and effective governance.
